SEPTEMBER 16th: Free student concert with the world renowned Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Study Bergen and the Bergen Philharmonic welcomes old and new students to Grieghallen and an evening of fantastic musical experience. On the program is Carl Nielsen's "Aladdin suite", Joaquín Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" and Nikolaj Rimskij-Korsakov's "Sheherazade".

Conductor Carlo Rizzi introduces us to the brilliant young guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas in Rodrigo’s soulful, sparkling Concierto de Aranjuez.
At the end of the 19th century it was popular among Northern European composers to imbue their works with an exotic flavour from, among other places, the Middle East or Spain. Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade is a prime example, with its virtuosic unfolding of the Arabian Nights tales.

Carl Nielsen continued the tradition with his incidental music for a stage production of Alladin, heard here in its popular suite form.

With: Carlo Rizzi (conductor), Pablo Sáinz Villegas (guitar) and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert starts at 7.30 PM in Grieghallen.

The ticket office at Grieghallen is open at the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10 - 17:00
