Welcome to Le Tour de Bryggen! 🚲🚲🚲 Let’s show Bryggen some extra love!

We have chosen Bryggen as the focus of this ride because we want to highlight one of the main challenges in the city centre: cyclists are largely forced to share the road with cars and buses. There are neither physically separated cycle paths nor dedicated bike lanes in this area.

At the same time, we see that the development of cycling infrastructure is being delayed because of the wait for larger urban development projects, such as the Bybanen, which in practice pushes necessary improvements far into the future.

A previous temporary measure, where a cycle lane was marked at Bryggen, showed that there is in fact space to prioritise cyclists in the street layout. However, this solution has not been continued.

As a result, the city centre is still unsafe and poorly adapted for people who cycle.

This time, we will therefore end with a slightly different aftermass, namely “Le Tour de Bryggen”: we will cycle 10 laps around Norway’s most iconic row of buildings. In doing so, we highlight the gap between ambitions for green mobility and the reality of everyday cycling in the city centre.

Starting at The Blue Stone and finishing at Bryggen. The route is about 10 km.
