Beginning the evening in Griegsalen scientific insights from Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research frame two major new composed works for orchestra from Therese B. Ulvo and Marius Neset. In MANMADE, a new saxophone concerto from Marius Neset, musical material from his career as an improvising player are embedded within a form and structure that is inspired by current climate changes. Therese B. Ulvo’s new double piano concerto, Woven Fingerprints, written for pianists Ellen Ugelvik and Andreas Ulvo, reflects through music the traces that we leave on the world – musical, physical, environmental. Completing the programme in Griegsalen are iconic early 20th Century works for orchestra by French composer Maurice Ravel.
