Bergen Intergalactic Discussion Forum

TEST organisation: Bergen Intergalactic Discussion Forum (BID) is a social association for all students interested in science fiction, space travel and life in the universe. We meet to talk about everything from time travel to how to pack your suitcase for a trip to Mars.

Who can join?  

All students in Bergen, regardless of what you study. If you're curious about outer space, you're welcome! We are an international group and speak both Norwegian and English. 

What do our members do?  

As a member you can participate in exciting events such as: 

• Monthly "Stargate" evenings: We watch films or discuss sci-fi themes 
• Telescope outings: When the weather in Bergen allows it, we look at the stars 
• Quizzes: Intergalactic quizzes about popular culture 

Those who wish to get more involved can, for example, help plan and run events, manage our social media channels, be equipment manager or hold a board position in the association. There are many different opportunities depending on what you're interested in! 

What do we expect from you?  

We don't require you to show up for everything. You can come once a year or every week. We usually meet for a couple of hours. 

What can members expect from us? 

All positions in BID are voluntary and unpaid, but we provide free pizza at all board meetings! 

Does it cost anything to join?  

Membership is completely free. 

What member benefits do you have?  

You get access to a library with lots of great sci-fi literature, an invitation to the annual Galactic Ball party, and a certificate for your CV if you hold a position of responsibility. 

What do you do to socialise?  

We're a very relaxed bunch! After each meeting we usually grab a soda or coffee together. We make sure that no one sits alone, and we have a buddy scheme for new members.

How it all started  

BID was founded in 2024 by three students who felt a little alone in the universe. Since then we have become a small but tight-knit group of space enthusiasts.
