Changemaker Bergen Student

Changemaker Bergen Student is an engaged group that works creatively and politically to remove the causes of injustice and poverty in the world.

Changemaker Bergen Student is a politically independent student organization for students ages 18 up to age 30. We are a local chapter of Changemaker. We come from both the university and various places of higher education in the area, but what we all have in common is the desire to combat the root causes of injustice in the world. We focus on five main themes: peace, illegitimate debt and tax havens, global health, international trade, and climate and the environment.

What do we do? We organize political debates, panel discussions on political topics with a more educational angle, participate in protests and write opinion pieces in the newspaper. We also run sticker campaigns. As for social events, we hold a variety of social events for active members, from bowling, to Christmas dinners, to quizzes.

What can you do? As a member, you attend planning meetings, usually once a week. You can contribute with suggestions of political topics and concerns, suggest politicians or academic speakers for events, plan social events, be a debate moderator, design posters for events, and more! 

Membership costs NOK 50 per year, visit the website to sign up. Membership entitles you to participate in special Changemaker events, such as the Spring Seminar and Autumn Seminar. (Our panel discussions are free for everyone). In order to be an active member – not just a support member, send an email or Instagram message to find out when the first meeting is, and then you can try it out.

For exchange students/anyone who does not speak Norwegian: Our political debates are typically in Norwegian, some panel discussions may be in English. Regardless we are able to hold any planning meeting or social event in English.
