Cinemateket i Bergen

Cinemateket is the cinema for film lovers in Bergen – and everyone else. Here, you’ll find everything from premieres to old classics and hidden cinematic gems.

The cinema opened in 1993 and has since been dedicated to offering unique film experiences. Cinemateket is a non-commercial cinema, and its mission is to promote film history in order to increase public knowledge and interest in the art of film.

They curate programs for children, youth, adults, and seniors. In addition to screenings, Cinemateket hosts special events such as silent film concerts, director visits, workshops, and festivals. Cinemateket is proud to screen films in physical formats (16mm, 35mm, and 70mm) as well as newly restored digital copies.
