Cinemateket is a cinema with soul. Since opening in 1993, we've been dedicated to offering unique cinematic experiences. We screen both classics and hidden gems you won't find anywhere else. As a non-commercial cinema, our mission is to preserve and promote film and film history, and to encourage public knowledge of and interest in film as an art form. We curate for children, youth, adults, and seniors alike. Beyond regular screenings, we host special events — silent film concerts, director visits, workshops, and festivals. Cinemateket is proud to show films both analogue film (16mm, 35mm, and we are the ONLY cinema in Norway outside of Oslo who can screen from glorious 70mm!) as well as newly restored digital copies.
