Sankta Sunniva Kammerkor
Sankta Sunniva Kammerkor – a choir for young singers (18-30 years) who enjoy classical choral singing. The choir has a varied repertoire, with a focus on classical music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, folk music, as well as music from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Sankta Sunniva Chamber Choir rehearses every Wednesday during the semester from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM in Johanneskirken.
Each semester, we participate in 1–3 concerts. We often collaborate with hired musicians and other choirs, in addition to organizing our own concerts. In recent years, for example, we have collaborated with Bergen Domkor to perform works such as Mozart's Requiem and Brahms' Requiem in Bergen Domkirke.
The choir also does a lot of fun social activities throughout the semester, with a focus on a good social and musical environment. After each rehearsal, we go to a bar or café together. We also go on one or two rehearsal weekends or cabin trips each semester. In addition, we try to go on a summer tour with StaS every year or every other year, either in Norway or abroad. In the past, we’ve visited countries such as Estonia, England, Germany, Sweden, France, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
We hold auditions for new singers at the beginning of each semester, in August/September and January/February. Each semester we have open rehearsals where you can come and check out the choir and audition if you're interested. You're welcome to join an open rehearsal and audition for StaS whether or not you have previous choir experience. You don’t need to be able to read sheet music — this is something you can learn gradually over time. Information about open rehearsals can be found on our Facebook page.
If you’re interested in auditioning for the choir, feel free to contact the board at stasstyret@gmail.com, or come to one of our open rehearsals announced on Facebook.
