Studentparliament at the University of Bergen
Student Parliament (SP) is the top student political body at the University of Bergen (UiB). SP works to safeguard the interests of UiB students, and is their most important voice towards the university and other relevant actors.
SP speaks in all matters concerning the students at UiB, and selects representatives for various councils and committees.
The Student Parliament processes and makes decisions in matters relating to university politics, student politics or is in the students' interest at UiB. The Student Parliament usually deals with matters that deal with subject politics, student welfare at UiB, learning environment, international students, exchange or more faculty-specific issues. Examples of issues SP has been working on for the past year are that appeals censorship must take less time, subject-specific bachelor's titles, resolution on organizing the state's loan fund, engaging students to vote in the rector's election, providing premises for student organizations at the faculties, improving conditions for international students and dialogue with Bergen Municipality.
The Student Parliament is at all times free to deal with the issues that they want.To implement the decisions, SP annually selects an executive committee (AU). AU works full-time with the daily operations of SP, and is SP's executive body. SP decides what issues AU should work with and what kind of policy AU should exercise.
