The Welfare Council

Velferdstinget Vest works for the well being of all students.

Velferdstinget is a composition of student democracies at all the educational institutions that are affiliated with the Welfare organisation of Western Norway (Sammen). Velferdstinget currently consists of 33 representatives. The purpose of Velferdstinget is to give the students associated with Sammen a collective voice when confronting them, and other actors in welfare matters that concern the students.

It is Velferdstinget that decides the distribution of the part of the semester fee that primarily goes to student culture, student media and student sports. In addition, Velferdstinget elects half of the board members in Sammen, including the leader who has a double vote. The Welfare Council also elects student representatives to all other councils, boards and committees in Sammen.
